Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that India will be made drug-free by December 2029. He kept his word on the promise of a Naxal-free India, eliminating the scourge of Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026. Now, following his announcement of a drug-free India, he has launched his first major crackdown, uncovering transactions worth ₹100 crore. It is an established fact that drug money is used to finance terrorism against India. However, this money is also being used to create chaos and instability within the country. Wherever regime-change operations have taken place around the world, drug money has been used to finance them. India is no exception. Therefore, the campaign for a drug-free India is not just a major blow to drug traffickers and terrorist groups; it will also hit those working to bring about regime change. On October 23, Operation Trident was launched against the drug empire operating in the country. Raids were conducted at 38 locations across Assam, Manipur, and Mizoram. Eighteen accused individuals were arrested, and 1,424 bank accounts were frozen. Assets worth ₹17.82 crore were seized. The operation also led to the seizure of 500 detonators and ₹12 lakh in cash.
