भारताच्या नेपाळला लागून असलेल्या सीमेवर ११ जुलै रोजी जॉर्डन ब्राऊन या व्यक्तिला अटक करण्यात आली आहे. हा कधी काळी अमेरिकेच्या स्पेशल फोर्सचा कमांडो होता. दोन वर्षापूर्वी तो सेवेतून बाहेर पडला. काही आठवडे तो पासपोर्ट आणि अन्य वैध कागदपत्रांशिवाय भारतभर भटकत होता.
त्याचा एकूणच व्यवहार संशयास्पद आहे. मॅथ्यू व्हॅन डीक आणि मिकाह मार्कच्या याच्या अटकेनंतर अमेरिकी सुरक्षा यंत्रणांशी संबंधित हा तिसरा संशयित भारतात सापडला आहे. सीआयए नक्कीच भारतात काही तरी शिजवण्याच्या प्रयत्नात आहे. उत्तर प्रदेशातील सोनौली हा भाग नेपाळच्या सीमेला लागून आहे.
इथल्या चेकपोस्टमधून दोन्ही देशातील लोक, वाहने येजा करतात. ११ जुलै रोजी स्थानिक रहीवाशांशी जॉर्डन ब्राऊन याचे काही खटके उडाले. लोकांनी पकडून त्याला चांगलेच बडवले. लोकांना त्याचा संशय आला असावा. त्यानंतर सीमा सुरक्षा बलच्या जवानांकडे सोपवण्यात आले. इथून त्याची झाडाझडती सुरू झाली.
चौकशीत अनेक धक्कादायक तपशील बाहेर आले आहेत. हा मूळचा कॅलिफोर्नियाचा रहीवाशी. सहा वर्षे तो अमेरिकी नौदलाच्या स्पेशल फोर्समध्ये काम करत होता. नेव्ही सील म्हणजे आपल्या फोर्स वन किंवा एसपीजी कमांडों इतके प्रशिक्षित असतात. अत्यंत खडतर प्रशिक्षण त्यांना देण्यात आलेले असते.
